Teaching Artist
My name is Abby Huskisson and I am a music, theatre, and dance educator located in Manhattan and originally from the suburbs of Chicago. I have been in NYC for 5 years and it was always my dream to do what I love here, surrounded by the passionate, hard-working, and creative people of the city. I graduated from Drake University in 2019 with a Bachelor’s in Vocal Music Education with a Musical Theatre emphasis. I am currently an Elementary Music and Drama teacher at the Parkside School- a school for students with learning disabilities, trauma, autism, and other challenges. Here, we put on many performances including an end of the year musical in which I direct, choreograph, and music direct. Since 2015, I have been traveling home to Chicago to direct BAM Theatre’s Youth Summer productions of 80 students ages 5-15. I also spend time teaching youth dance classes at PMT House of Dance and with Creativities here in NYC. When I am not teaching, I am continuing to train in voice and dance, participating in choreography workshops and training programs, and singing PMT Dance Company shows. I am thrilled to share my passion for theatre, music, and dance with the students of Treasure Trunk. It is my intention to provide a safe and uplifting space for students to explore their creativity through playful and thoughtful drama and music activities. I strive to help each student find their connection to the creative world in which they can best express themselves and of course, have fun!
